Dr. Melissa Weber has spent her career at the intersection of ocean science and research management. As Co-CEO of Pisces Oceans, she brings that lived understanding to every client engagement, helping ocean leaders build the infrastructure their projects need to move from vision to lasting impact.
With over a decade of experience in academia and a PhD where she worked alongside coastal Arctic communities in Nunavut, Melissa understands the full arc of ocean research — the rigour, the complexity, and the human stakes behind every project. That experience shaped both her purpose and her expertise: she knows what it takes to keep ambitious ocean work funded, compliant, and moving forward.
Melissa leads Pisces' management pillar, bringing precision and strategic clarity to grant management, financial oversight, reporting, and compliance. She builds the structure each project needs, so ocean leaders can stay focused on their hands-in-the-water work.
Her connection to the ocean deepens every day in her home in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, where she lives with her husband and daughter. That proximity and the responsibility she feels to protect the Caribbean's ocean ecosystems fuel her commitment to expanding Pisces' global reach and supporting ocean impact beyond Canada's shores.
