OCEAN STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

Your ocean work matters.
Make sure the world knows it.

The Ocean Storytelling Workshop gives ocean professionals the narrative frameworks and storytelling confidence to communicate their work with the clarity and impact it deserves, to funders, stakeholders, and the people who need to hear it most.

Critical ocean work gets overlooked every day.

Not because it isn't important, but because the story isn't being told. Without clear, compelling communication, even the most significant ocean initiatives struggle to build awareness, engage the right people, or secure the support they need.

And the stakes have never been higher. In a world where climate change is accelerating and misinformation around ocean solutions runs rampant, the narratives we tell (and don't tell) matter enormously.

Storytelling isn't a soft skill. It's the difference between work that creates impact and work that goes unnoticed.

Learn to tell the story your ocean work deserves.

The ocean doesn't have a science problem; it has a story problem. And that's exactly what this workshop is designed to fix

The Ocean Storytelling Workshop is a hands-on, immersive experience built specifically for the ocean sector.

Whether you're leading research, driving blue economy innovation, or building a case for a new initiative, you'll leave with the tools to connect with your audience, make your message stick, and move people to act.

Why does ocean storytelling matter?

CONNECTION

Stories connect people emotionally to your mission.

RETENTION

Stories make information memorable.

INSPIRATION

Stories move people to act.

"It's not enough to do good work. If we never talk about it, or if we talk only about it to the same people in the same room, over and over again, nothing changes,"

Natalie Gilson, Workshop Host, Ocean Storyteller and CEO of Pisces Oceans

It made us think more sharply about our own story, which is still very much intertwined with my story as the founder. It's great to see that we can separate this and create a narrative with everyone in our company that aligns. Thank you!!

A note from your workshop host, Natalie Gilson.

I started the Ocean Storytelling Workshop because I believe the ocean's biggest challenge isn't scientific — it's human. We have the research. We have the data. What we're missing is enough people who feel genuinely connected to what's at stake.

Everyone who works in oceans carries something most people never get to experience — a relationship with the sea that changes how you see everything. This workshop exists to help you share that. Not just to communicate your work more effectively, but because the ocean needs more people in its corner. And story is how that happens.

Storytelling is one of the oldest and most powerful things we do as humans. Right now, it's also one of the most urgent tools we have. Misinformation travels fast.

The ocean can't afford to lose the narrative and neither can the people doing the work to protect it.
